Hoboken Republicans Cheer State's Denial of Toback Contract
Responding to news that our state’s Department of Education has refused to approve Mark Toback’s contract, the Hoboken Republican Club today issued the following statement:
“School board trustees are supposed to represent taxpayers’ interests to prospective superintendents (not the other way around).
“Yesterday, it was revealed that our school board offered Mark Toback a salary that exceeded the new statewide limit by nearly $20,000. We therefore welcome the state’s decision, which dissident trustee Maureen Sullivan has rightly called a ‘victory’ for local taxpayers.
“Like Sullivan, we are proud to stand with Gov. Christie as he fights to restore fiscal sanity across the state. We urge our Board of Education to start following the Governor’s lead.”
